iTunes Movie Rentals was launched today at MacWorld.
Pricing is per movie, thus somewhat competitive with brick-and-mortar rental stores, not so much with subscription rental services like Netflix.

Seems like this won’t be far off…

Totally agree about a “subscription” plan option. I’d love to see this as an option in addition to a la carte rentals.
The prices to purchase movies from iTunes are so uncompetitive with DVD purchase prices as to be ridiculous!
I’d love to see something like a monthly subscription for “renting” movies. I don’t know whether Apple wants to compete with the likes of Netflix in this area, but on the other hand, Netflix doesn’t seem to be in any hurry to support Macs, so it seems like a niche just begging to be filled.
